Prepare for a modern dating nightmare that’ll make you swipe left on the internet! Drop, from the twisted minds at Blumhouse and director Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day), is now available on digital platforms.
The Terrifying World of Dating
Drop throws us headfirst into the world of Violet. Violet is a resilient widowed mother who bravely dips her toes back into the dating pool. However, what should be a hopeful and exciting new chapter in her life quickly spirals into a terrifying ordeal. Violet soon finds herself the unwilling target of a mysterious and unseen villain. This anonymous tormentor launches a relentless campaign of psychological terror, bombarding Violet with increasingly unsettling and threatening messages. She becomes trapped in a deadly and high-stakes game of cat and mouse. Violet constantly questions who the sinister puppet master pulling the strings might be.
A Fantastic Cast
Meghann Fahy stars as Violet, expertly capturing the character’s initial vulnerability as she navigates the complexities of dating after loss, and her subsequent descent into growing terror as the anonymous threats escalate. Brandon Sklenar, known for his role in “Yellowstone’s ‘1923’,” stars alongside Fahy. Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) and Jacob Robinson round out the core cast. The strong supporting cast includes Reed Diamond, Gabrielle Ryan, Jeffery Self, Ed Weeks, and Travis Nelson.
Drop is the brainchild of the writing duo Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach, who previously penned the screenplay for Blumhouse’s Truth or Dare. Jason Blum (M3GAN) produces the film. Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Cameron Fuller of Platinum Dunes are adding even more firepower to the production team. This potent combination of talent behind and in front of the camera promises a thrill ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat from the first unsettling message to the shocking final reveal.
The film initially unleashed its modern dating nightmare in theaters on April 11th, arriving hot on the heels of Blumhouse’s other recent thriller, The Woman in the Yard. This created a double dose of Blumhouse terror that has left audiences breathless and deeply unsettled. If you haven’t had a chance to experience the suspense on the big screen, fear not—you can bring the terror home very soon!
