A Star-Studded Cast and a Tale of Obsession
HIM features an electrifying, dramatic performance by Marlon Wayans as Isaiah White, a legendary football figure. The film’s protagonist, Cameron Cade, is played by former college wide receiver Tyriq Withers (“Atlanta”). Cam, a rising-star quarterback, suffers a career-ending brain trauma after a violent attack by an unhinged fan. When all hope seems lost, Isaiah takes him under his wing for training at a secluded compound.
Initially, this mentorship seems like a dream come true, but Isaiah’s charismatic facade soon begins to curdle, revealing something far more sinister. The film promises a psychologically perilous journey where the price of achieving a dream might be one’s very soul. The talented cast also includes Tim Heidecker and Jim Jefferies, as well as feature film debuts from MMA heavyweight fighter Maurice Greene and hip-hop artists Guapdad 4000 and Tierra Whack.
The Creative Team Behind the Terror
The film is directed by Justin Tipping (Kicks) from a screenplay he co-wrote with Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie (Limetown). It’s produced by an impressive team from Monkeypaw Productions, including Ian Cooper, Jordan Peele, Win Rosenfeld, and Jamal M. Watson. With its compelling premise and the creative force of Jordan Peele, HIM promises to be a chilling and thought-provoking exploration of ambition.
