If you enjoy sleeping without a flashlight, look away now. Roadside Attractions and Saban Films have officially acquired the U.S. rights to Crawlers. Horror specialist Angel Gómez Hernández directs this high-intensity nightmare. It stars the fierce Matilda Lutz, known for her breakout role in Revenge.
A New Breed of Terror
Set in the Paradiso Palms apartment complex, manager Serena (Lutz) is already having a bad day. An underappreciated worker, she discovers a mysterious death that looks like a viral outbreak. The reality is much worse: a catastrophic infestation of venomous spiders is spreading through the vents. A strict quarantine traps the residents inside a concrete tomb, surrounded by thousands of hungry predators. Serena must confront her deepest fears to lead a desperate fight for survival.
The Pedigree of Pain
The film marks the debut of Badlands, a powerhouse collaboration between Thunder Road and Scott Strauss. It’s also backed by Thunder Road: The creative engine behind John Wick and Sicario. Scott Strauss: The veteran executive who brought us Resident Evil and Underworld and comes from an impressive writer, Jayson Rothwell, the mind behind the gritty Polar and Silent Night.
Industry Buzz
Roadside Attractions called the film a “viciously entertaining thrill ride” that is as fun as it is terrifying. Saban Films added that it delivers the “squirm-in-your-seat” moments horror fans live for. Scott Strauss reminded everyone that we are rarely more than three feet from a spider. Now, they are coming to your local cinema to make that distance feel even smaller.
The Production Squad
This visceral experience is a massive joint effort between Badlands, Altitude, and Sagesse Productions. Producers include industry heavyweights like Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, and Academy Award® nominee Alexandra Milchan. With the John Wick team at the helm, expect the action to be as sharp as a fang.
