If you thought Dan Stevens had a rough time in Abigail, wait until you see him navigate the nightmare of a psychiatric hospital from hell.

AMC+ and Shudder have released a tantalizing sneak peek at the second episode of the horror anthology’s third season, “The Terror: Devil in Silver,” ahead of its second episode premiere this Thursday, May 14.

Stevens, who also serves as executive producer, leads an elite ensemble that includes Judith Light, CCH Pounder, and Aasif Mandvi. If the premiere didn’t give you enough of a chill, “Disturbed” is looking to dial up the claustrophobia.

Episode 102: “Disturbed” – What to Expect

Directed by the legendary Karyn Kusama (Jennifer’s Body, “Yellowjackets”) and written by the novel’s original author Victor LaValle, this week’s installment promises to turn the “weird sounds in the ceiling” trope into a genuine panic attack.

Pepper (Stevens) gets acquainted with his roommate, Coffee. In a place like New Hyde, “getting to know you” usually involves a few red flags.

Pepper is visited by a bloody former inhabitant of the hospital before being attacked by a “mysterious entity.” (And no, it’s probably not just a plumbing issue).

Amidst the madness, Pepper manages to snag a set of staff keys. Nothing says “prestige horror” like a desperate dash through a dark hallway with a jangling keyring.

The Creative Powerhouse Behind the Curtains

This season is essentially a “Who’s Who” of genre talent. With Ridley Scott executive producing and showrunners Chris Cantwell (Halt and Catch Fire) and Victor LaValle at the helm, the series balances high-brow psychological dread with the visceral scares we expect from the Terror brand. If you have a second, I recommend checking out our interview with the killer duo. You’ll learn more about the show’s creation and the horrors to come.

Kusama’s direction in these first two episodes is particularly noteworthy. She has a knack for making institutional spaces feel alive—and hungry.

How to Watch

Episode 2 drops Thursday, May 14, on AMC+ and Shudder. For those who prefer the traditional glow of the television, the series will air on the AMC linear channel later this year.

Between the stellar cast and the pedigree of the source material, “The Terror: Devil in Silver is quickly staking its claim as the best horror series on television right now. If you’re a fan of practical-feeling effects and slow-burning dread, this show is for you.
