If you thought the worst thing about a flash flood was the property damage, The Asylum is here to remind you that it could always be worse. Much worse. The kings of the “mockbuster” have officially released the trailer for Shark Thrash. It’s their new survival thriller that proves the only thing more dangerous than a natural disaster is a beast with teeth.
High Tide, Low Survival Rate
The premise is classic Asylum gold: a sleepy, touristy beach town gets hit by a storm so massive it makes a hurricane look like a light drizzle. As the waters rise, a vacationing family finds itself trapped.
But wait, there’s more! This isn’t just a plumbing issue. The floodwaters have brought a “shiver” of sharks directly onto the town’s streets. It’s a “surf and turf” situation where you are the turf, and the sharks are very, very, very, very hungry.
The trailer brings a treasure trove of toothy goodness. Watch as the water rises and the chances of keeping all your limbs go down. But on the bright side, nothing brings families together like a fight for survival.
Behind the Sharks and Slaughter
Directed by Marcel Walz, the man who brought us the high-brow cinematic achievements The Anacondas and Jurassic Reborn, Shark Thrash promises to deliver exactly the kind of unapologetic genre fun we’ve come to expect. Jacob Cooney and Jason White penned this balls-to-the-wall movie.
The Cast (A.K.A. The Buffet):
Adam Huss (General Hospital, Night of the Living Dead 2026) stars alongside Gina Vitori, Rachel Emma Goodwin, Nicholas Olbina, and Lucas Hart.
Produced by the legendary David Michael Latt and executive produced by David Rimawi, the film carries the unmistakable DNA of the studio that gave us Sharknado.
Coming Soon
Shark Thrash feels like a solid entry into the “Nature is Pissed” subgenre. It’s leaning into the claustrophobic dread of being stuck in a flooded house. Then, it’s combined with the visceral thrill of a predator lurking just beneath the surface of your living room carpet.
Here’s more good news: you don’t have to wait for hurricane season to play out. Shark Thrash (similarly named to the Netflix shark movie Thrash) swims into a home near you on Digital, Friday, May 15. Put on your swimmies, grab a weapon, and get ready for the fight!
