If you thought co-living with your worst enemy was tough, try doing it in a crumbling, zombie-infested Manhattan. AMC has officially dropped the premiere date and a frantic new teaser for the third season of “The Walking Dead: Dead City,” proving that the apocalypse’s most awkward partnership is far from over.

The Premise: Can Frenemies Build a Metropolis?

Season three finds Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) attempting the ultimate post-apocalyptic pivot: putting aside their incredibly bloody history to construct the first thriving community in Manhattan since the world went to hell.

But because this is “The Walking Dead,” peace lasts about as long as a New York minute. As chaos inevitably bubbles up through the subway grates, the duo is forced to confront a familiar question: Have they actually evolved beyond their old trauma, or will their toxic baggage bring the city’s new foundation crashing down around them?

The Big Apple’s New Residents

Alongside Morgan and Cohan, the urban wasteland is packing a stacked supporting cast to help populate the dead boroughs. That includes Jimmi Simpson (Westworld), Raúl Castillo (Looking), Aimee Garcia (Lucifer), Logan Kim (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), and Michael Emery.

Behind the Camera

The franchise’s core architecture team remains intact to oversee the carnage. The season is executive produced by Walking Dead Universe chief content officer Scott M. Gimple, alongside showrunner Seth Hoffman, Cohan, Morgan, Brian Bockrath, and Colin Walsh.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan are back as the universe’s least likely co-op board presidents when “The Walking Dead: Dad City” returns on Sunday, July 26, 2026, on AMC and AMC+.
