Alice Johnson has officially traded her dream-fighting powers for a badge. Lisa Wilcox, the horror icon beloved for her role as the “Dream Master” in A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 and 5, has signed on to join the cast of Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light.
Wilcox will step into the shoes of Detective Garner. She’s a veteran investigator who has clearly spent too much time looking into things that go bump in the night.
The Longest-Running Nightmare
If you aren’t familiar with the Witchcraft series, you haven’t been looking at the “World Records” section of your horror encyclopedia. It’s the latest installment of one of the longest-running horror franchises in cinema history. It will, however, be a bit different than its predecessors. However, Lanterne of Light is pivoting to a dark found-footage style.
The story dives into the cursed legend of “The Children of the Hollow” buried deep in the North Carolina wilderness. Expect less “scenic hiking” and more “ritualistic cult terror.”
Detective Garner: Secrets and Scars
Wilcox’s Detective Garner isn’t your standard procedural cop. She’s described as a woman scarred by years of investigating ritualistic murders and disappearances. She uncovers the kind of secrets that were never supposed to see the light of day.
As a documentary crew digs into the legend, they realize Garner might be holding back some terrifying intel. It turns out, she may know exactly what kind of ancient evil is waiting for them in the woods.
“Lisa Wilcox is someone I grew up watching and admiring as a horror fan, so having her become part of Witchcraft is honestly surreal,” says director Carissa Pierson. “She brings strength, emotion, and authenticity to Detective Garner in a way that elevates the entire film.”
The Ensemble
Wilcox joins a cast of genre regulars, including Andrew Pierson (Return of the Living Dead: Trash’s Revenge), Kristina Lafser (The Last Sleepover), and Studio 54 legend Rockin’ Ronnie.
What to Expect
By blending the legacy of 80s horror royalty with a gritty, psychological found-footage aesthetic, Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light aims to give the long-running franchise a fresh, terrifying jolt. Stay tuned for more updates.
