If you haven’t checked into New Hyde Hospital yet, what are you even doing on your Thursday nights? AMC+ and Shudder’s critically acclaimed, Certified Fresh horror anthology “The Terror: Devil in Silver” is officially crossing the halfway mark of its six-episode run. And things are about to get profoundly messy.
Executive produced and starring the internet’s favorite chaotic chameleon, Dan Stevens (Abigail, Legion), this season swaps frozen arctic ships and WWII ghost stories for the institutional nightmare of a psychiatric hospital. Oh, and did we mention a literal horned devil is roaming the corridors? No big deal.
To gear up for Episode 4, titled “A Number in the System! It’s dropping this Thursday, May 28, 2026, and the network has shared a genuinely unsettling sneak peek. Let’s look at the forecast for this week’s group therapy, shall we?
The Forecast: Gunfire, Gore, and Group Defiance
Behind the scenes, the show boasts an absolute powerhouse creative team. We’re talking horror royalty like Ridley Scott producing, Chris Cantwell (Halt and Catch Fire) co-showrunning alongside Victor LaValle (the genius author who wrote the original novel), and Emmy-nominee Karyn Kusama (Yellowjackets) setting the initial tone. Be sure to check out our interview with Cantwell and LaValle, who took us inside this delightfully dark season.
This week, director Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour, Jr., and writer Vanessa Baden Kelly are steering the ship straight into a hurricane. According to the network’s tease, the patients are officially done playing nice with the staff—and the entity upstairs:
The Chaos Report:
Dorry is scheduled for a deeply twisted procedure, but she isn’t going down without a fight. Armed with the knowledge of who the Devil truly is, she teams up with Coffee, Pepper (Stevens), and Loochie to hatch a desperate counter-attack. Meanwhile, Pepper’s session with Dr. Walter forces him to confront his heaviest, darkest shame. And for the grand finale? Coffee finally discovers exactly what has been locked behind the mysterious Silver Door. Expect plenty of gunfire, gore, and institutional rebellion.
An Ensemble to Die For
Alongside Dan Stevens’ electric, sweat-drenched lead performance, Devil in Silver features an absolute masterclass of an acting ensemble. The ward is populated by industry legends, including Judith Light, CCH Pounder, and Aasif Mandvi, all of whom turn the grim reality of the modern healthcare system into a deeply moving, terrifying psychological playground.
The first three episodes are already streaming, giving you just enough time to binge your way to the front lines before Thursday’s premiere.
Set your alarms for May 28, log into Max, AMC+, or Shudder, and remember: whatever you do, do not look through the Silver Door. Be sure to follow the series for more.
