Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the summer vacation rental, The Asylum is here to remind you why you’re scared of clowns. Ahead of its official release next week, the masterminds of mockbuster cinema have unleashed the trailer for Summerween.
The upcoming slasher asks a very simple question: Why restrict masked psychopaths to late October when they can ruin a perfectly good pool party in June?
Circus Freaks and Squatter Rights
Written and directed by Ryan Ebert, the film follows a deeply troubled former circus clown. When he decides he has had quite enough of his state-mandated therapy. After executing a clean escape from a local psychiatric facility, our face-painted antagonist decides to revisit his roots. He journeys back to his long-abandoned childhood home, presumably seeking peace, quiet, and a place to hang his oversized shoes.
Unfortunately, his nostalgic homecoming is rudely interrupted. A group of clueless, trespassing teenagers has turned his dilapidated property into a makeshift party pad. Rather than filing a polite noise complaint or asking them to leave, the clown decides to do what clowns do best—sadistically terrorize them using whatever sharp objects are lying around the house.
The Final Girl (And Boy) Candidates
To bring this seasonal slaughter to life, Ebert has assembled a fresh-faced cast of archetypes who are practically custom-built to run up the stairs instead of out the front door. The film stars Cole Chapleski, Chase Breithoff, Logan Roe, Sophia Sabol, and Clint Morrison.
Coming Soon
Whether they manage to fight off the big-top terror or become the latest statistics remains to be seen. If you love low-budget charm, creative uses of lawn ornaments, and killer clown logic, get ready for Summerween to drop next week, on 6-26-26. Just remember to pack the heavy-duty bug spray and a spare change of pants.
