If you had “James ‘Murr’ Murray writes a creature feature about a giant prehistoric spider” on your 2026 bingo card, congratulations—you are a prophet. The Impractical Jokers star is shifting from public embarrassment to pure, unadulterated arachnophobia. His upcoming monster movie, Don’t Move, is officially crawling into theaters nationwide this September.
The film is an adaptation of the 2020 novel of the same name by Murray and co-author Darren Wearmouth. To celebrate the release, Murr announced a pair of special premiere events: one in Kansas City on September 8 and the iconic TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles on September 9, complete with Q&As and red-carpet photos. The official trailer drops on Wednesday, July 8.
The Ozarks, an Occult-Free Arachnid, and a Church Group
Forget the ghosts and demons; this time, nature is doing the killing. The plot sounds like the ultimate recipe for a high-yield body count. A church group embarks on its annual wilderness retreat in the Ozarks. However, they wander off the designated path and straight into the worst neighborhood in the woods. When members of the flock start disappearing, everyone blames Ricky (Russell “Russ” Vitale), the resident bad boy and designated scapegoat. But the real culprit is a massive, prehistoric arachnid that hunts exclusively by vibration. It’s a giant game of musical chairs where if you take a step, you get liquified. It falls on Megan (Lyndsy Fonseca, Kick-Ass) to keep the remaining survivors calm, collected, and safe.
An Absolute Unit of a Cast (and Some Jokers)
Director Maclain Nelson (Vamp U) wields the megaphone for this survival thriller, working off a script he co-wrote with Murray and Wearmouth. To populate his giant spider buffet, he’s assembled an incredibly eclectic lineup of talent. Alongside Fonseca and Vitale, the film stars genre veteran Tom Cavanagh (The Flash), Hunter King (Life in Pieces), Rob Riggle (The Hangover), and Joseph Lee Anderson (Young Rock).
Because this spawns from Murr’s brand-new production banner, Impractical Studios, expect a massive slate of cameos. Keep your eyes peeled for auto-tune legend T-Pain, Matt Biedel, and Murr’s literal partners-in-crime, including Brian “Q” Quinn.
If you hear a skittering sound in the brush, just remember the title. Drop the keys, hold your breath, and for the love of the Dream Factory, don’t move. Tickets for the early premiere events are available now on the film’s official site. The film crawls into theaters on September 11.
