Ever feel like your Uber driver is trying to kill you? Screamify is taking that exact anxiety to the absolute extreme. The premier platform for short-form horror just dropped its latest micro-series, Autonomous.

Produced by Big Squid Productions, this innovative 16-episode vertical thriller delivers high-tension survival horror. It is tailored specifically for your next smartphone doom-scroll.

The Commute From Hell

The 16-episode series plays out as one continuous, terrifying ride. The story follows Amy (Erin Áine) and Derek (Domenic Jungling). They hop into a self-driving rideshare for the long trip home from his parents’ house. The couple starts with a standard, miserable relationship argument. They bicker over careers lost to AI and sketchy texts. Then, things get worse. The car refuses to change its route. A mysterious figure appears in the road.

Meanwhile, the calm, automated in-cabin voice continuously insists:

“Your safety is our priority.”

Spoiler alert: It definitely isn’t.

Real Car, Real Panic

To capture true claustrophobia, director Kyle Valle completely bypassed traditional studio sets. The filmmakers shot the entire project inside an actual operating autonomous vehicle. They trapped the actors inside a real-world tech bubble gone horribly wrong.

“Shooting in a real self-driving car wasn’t just a gimmick,” Valle explained. “It forced a raw, visceral claustrophobia.”

Stream the Terror Now

Autonomous arrives at the perfect time. Self-driving vehicles are officially moving into our everyday lives. However, the series begs a terrifying question: how much control are we quietly handing over to machines?

You can stream the entire bloody ride immediately. Just download the Screamify app on your favorite iOS or Android device. Keep your eyes on the road. Turn your volume up. And try not to scream during your next real commute.
