If you thought your last bachelorette party was a disaster because someone drank too much tequila and lost a shoe, count your blessings. The official poster for Ever After has just been released. It’s an upcoming horror flick that aims to turn classic bedtime stories into absolute nightmares. And it features a cast list that reads like a VIP section at a horror convention.

Directed by László Illés, it was penned by Illés alongside László Krisztián Gera. Ever After takes the whimsical world of the Brothers Grimm, throws it into a blender, and hits purée.

Grimm’s Fairy Tales, But Make It Scary

Forget Prince Charming. The official loglines promise a delightfully unhinged twist on the “cabin in the woods” trope. A remote forest lodge seems like the perfect spot for a bachelorette getaway. However, the woods are infested with bloodthirsty lunatics. And they are suffering from a severe, homicidal case of fairy tale delusions. As the lines between fantasy and reality blur, surviving the night becomes the only bachelorette game that matters.

A Masterclass in Macabre Casting

What’s truly exciting for genre fans is the casting. However, the filmmakers didn’t just hire random stuntmen to wear creepy masks; they assembled a certified court of horror royalty.

The film stars the legendary Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, Rob Zombie’s Halloween) and Mark Sheppard (“Supernatural”). Still, the nightmare fuel really kicks into high gear with a trio of literal icons: Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes), Bonnie Aarons (The demon nun from The Conjuring universe), and Kane Hodder (The definitive, machete-wielding Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th).

Rounding out the ensemble are Lydia Pearl Pentz, Rebecka Johnston, Riana Emma Balla, Miklós B. Székely, and Maria de Sá.

With the official poster now out in the wild, Ever After is shaping up to be a deliciously dark, tongue-in-cheek slice of slasher heaven. Lock your doors, skip the poisoned apples, and stay out of the woods.
