The legal fog has finally cleared over Camp Crystal Lake. Everyone’s favorite hockey-masked mama’s boy is making up for lost time.

Thanks to the newly minted “Jason Universe” initiative, Jason Voorhees has been staging a massive comeback tour. Between his recent arrival in Dead by Daylight and the nostalgic short film Sweet Revenge, the slasher icon is officially back. But according to the architects behind the resurrection, this is just the warm-up act.

Speaking with Variety, Robbie Barsamian, an executive at Jason Universe, teased that the machete-wielding menace is just getting started.

“We’ve been busy behind the scenes laying the foundation that everyone is finally starting to see come to life, but this is just the tip of the iceberg,” Barsamian teased. “We have a thrilling lineup of new projects that we can’t wait to share more details on soon. We want to give fans fresh takes on what they love most about Jason.”

Welcome Back to Crystal Lake

The crown jewel of this new slasher renaissance is officially heading to our television screens this autumn. A24 and Peacock are teaming up for “Crystal Lake.” It’s the highly anticipated prequel series that shifts the spotlight to the woman who started it all.

-The Mother of All Slashers: Linda Cardellini (Dead to Me, Scooby-Doo) stars as a younger, pre-unhinged Pamela Voorhees. The series will take fans back in time to explore the tragic, twisted origin story of how she evolved into horror’s most lethal protective mother.

-A Young Jason: The series has officially cast Callum Vinson (who recently played the young, human version of Charles Lee Ray in the Chucky series) to play a young, pre-drowned Jason Voorhees.

-Release Date: Pack your bags, because Crystal Lake is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Peacock on October 15, 2026—just in time for the Halloween season.

What’s Next for the Epitome of the Strong Silent Type

A television prequel from A24 is enough to get any horror fan salivating. However, the Jason Universe team has dropped hints that a new feature film and a dedicated video game are top priorities on their bloody to-do list.

Barsamian and his team are keeping their lips tightly sealed on those fronts for now. Still, considering Jason spent the last decade trapped in a purgatory of copyright lawsuits, the fact that he’s back on the grid—and coming to television this October—means the campfire at Crystal Lake is officially burning bright again. Stay tuned, campers.
