Pack your bags and double-check your life insurance! We’re finally headed back to summer camp! While the wait for Peacock’s “Crystal Lake” has felt as painful as a machete to the skull, the silence in the woods has officially been broken.

Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane (IT: Welcome to Derry) took to Instagram this weekend to channel his inner Crazy Ralph, posting a cryptic teaser: “News coming. Monday.” And the big reveal? The release date has now officially been announced! You can witness Jason’s return this October!

The “How-To” Guide on Raising a Slasher

This isn’t your standard 80s hack-and-slash. As an A24 production, expect a prequel series that leans into atmosphere and “prestige” dread. The series aims to provide a definitive guide to raising a supernatural mass murderer, and the casting suggests they are swinging for the fences.

Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees: In a fascinating narrative pivot, this version of Pamela reportedly traded a potential singing career for the “joys” of motherhood. It’s a choice that, as horror history dictates, leads to a very different kind of “cutting” industry.

Callum Vinson (Chucky): Taking on the heavy burden of playing a young Jason Voorhees.

William Catlett (Abigail), Joy Suprano (Fleishman Is in Trouble), and Christopher Denham (Shining Girls) are also headed to camp.

Behind the Camera: A Masterclass in Paranoia

A24 has assembled a directorial squad that suggests we’re in for something visually stunning and tactile. The lineup includes: Michael Lennox (Derry Girls), Celine Held & Logan George (Caddo Lake), and Quyen Tran.

With eight episodes, the show has the luxury of time. This means we’ll likely get deep character development punctuated by the kind of creative dismemberment the franchise is known for. Given the talent involved, expect a heavy emphasis on atmospheric tension, but don’t worry, there will be plenty of scares.

Why the Hype is Real

For those keeping score at home, Crystal Lake marks the first official Friday the 13th project since the 2009 Platinum Dunes remake. We have endured a 17-year drought of Camp Crystal Lake mayhem. This isn’t just a reboot; it’s the most anticipated return to the woods in horror history.

Get ready, we return to Jason’s favorite camp, “Crystal Lake,” on October 15, 2026, on Peacock.

Be sure to take a gander at the first image from “Crystal Lake” (here). It gives us a look at a young Jason, whose head is misshapen and lumpy.
