Break out the sign language and tread lightly: John Krasinski is back in the director’s chair. The man who turned “shutting up” into a billion-dollar business took to Instagram to reveal that filming is officially underway for the third mainline installment of the silent saga.

The Gang’s All Here (Mostly)

While the plot is being guarded more closely than a survivor’s floor plan, we do know who made the cut for the threequel. The Abbott family survivors and their weary allies are returning to face whatever noise-hating terrors Krasinski has cooked up. Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe are all back. Cillian Murphy, whose Peaky Blinders movie was just released, joined the fray in Part II and is officially returning to help hold down the fort.

There’s some new blood joining the battle. Jack O’Connell (Sinners), Jason Clarke (Terminator Genisys), and Katy O’Brien (Love Lies Bleeding) join the fight.

A Franchise That Speaks Volumes

For a series where the characters barely whisper, the box office numbers are deafening. Between the first two mainline films and the 2024 prequel A Quiet Place: Day One, the franchise has clawed its way to $900 million worldwide.

With Part III on the horizon, it’s not a matter of if the series hits the $1 billion mark, but when. Not bad for a concept that started with a family trying to play Monopoly without making a sound.

The Road So Far

Since the original invasion hit screens, the Quiet Place universe has expanded faster than a sound wave.

The first two mainline films chronicled the Abbott family’s survival. They were followed by the spin-off, Day One, which showed us Lupita Nyong’o navigating a very loud New York City. There’s also the video game. You know, for those who want to experience the heart-pounding stress of stepping on a twig from the comfort of their couch.

Whether you’re here for the family drama or the high-stakes hide-and-seek, Krasinski’s return as writer, director, and producer suggests the finale of the trilogy is in good hands.

A Quiet Place Part III is scheduled to tip-toe into theaters on July 30, 2027. In the meantime, you can stream the entire franchise on Paramount+!

Stay tuned for more updates. Just try not to scream out loud when you hear them.
