Dark Sky Films is preparing to unleash Blood Shine, a striking fusion of arthouse sensibility and visceral folk horror, directed by Emily Bennett and Justin Brooks. It is a haunting descent into obsession and a story that blurs the line between enlightenment and agony.
A Hallucinatory Spiral
Blood Shine centers on Clara, played by Shelby Oaks star Emily Bennett, a devout zealot who worships the light through solitary, increasingly sadistic rituals deep in the countryside.
Enter Brighton West (David Call). He is a troubled filmmaker who retreats upstate in a desperate bid to finish his latest screenplay. When a chance encounter brings the two together, Brighton becomes entangled in Clara’s radical spiritual practices. He becomes convinced that her ceremonies hold the key to transforming him into a god. However, Clara draws the director into a fever-dream web of faith, flesh, and ultimate sublime terror.
Indie Horror Royalty Assembles
The film boasts an impressive lineup of genre favorites. Bennett and Call are joined by Brendan Sexton III (Russian Doll), Larry Fessenden (MaXXXine), and Toby Poser (Hellbender).
