Hold onto your fez and hide your scarabs: the gang is officially back together! The long-awaited fourth installment in The Mummy franchise isn’t just bringing back a couple of familiar faces. It is staging a full-blown, all-star family reunion.
Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, and John Hannah are strapping their holsters back on as Rick O’Connell, Evelyn O’Connell, and the delightfully useless Jonathan. Now, Deadline is reporting that fan-favorite franchise veterans Kevin O’Connor and Oded Fehr are returning as well. You’ll remember them as the treacherous Beni, and Fehr as the ultimate Medjai heartthrob, Ardeth Bay. Yes, Beni is somehow, because you can’t keep a good coward/thief down!
Joining the chaos is newcomer Numan Acar (Young Sherlock). However, his character details are currently being kept under wraps tighter than an ancient pharaoh.
The Masterminds Behind the Resurrection
Helming this return to Egyptian archaeology and heavy artillery is the Radio Silence duo, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Ready or Not, Scream). They’ll be directing from a script penned by David Coggeshall (Orphan: First Kill).
While specific plot details are hidden deep inside a trap-filled tomb, we do know the new sequel will politely pretend the third entry (Tomb of the Emperor) never happened. We’re going straighO’Connell classic, top-tier O’Connell family mayhem.
The directors promise that the wait “It’s more than worth it. It’s just really beautiful and scary and sweeping, and it’s awesome,” Gillet teased. Bettinelli-Olpin adds that the film “has all of the heart and the character that you could hope for.”
