Canadian indie directors Brett and Jason Butler are hopping across the pond this August for the World Premiere of their dark satire, STARSUCKERS. And it’s arriving at Tubi FrightFest 2026, the UK’s undisputed holy grail of genre cinema.

Want to watch influencers and elite celebrity culture get dismantled in the most chaotic way possible? The Butler Brothers have you covered.

Never Meet Your Idols

Chuck and Eileen are an ordinary couple. They win a dream weekend getaway with ultra-glamorous celebrity icons Bjorg Everglow and Sasha Nightshade. Naturally, the “dream escape” rapidly degenerates into psychological warfare, manipulation, and casual murder as the famous duo reveals their deeply unhinged true intentions.

STARSUCKERS skewers our cultural obsession with clout, status, and the desperate urge to live someone else’s highlight reel—proving that fame isn’t just toxic, it’s deadly.

The film stars Manon Ens-Lapointe (The Last Anniversary) and Steven Hobé (How Disney Built America). Rising talents James Alex, Jersey Anderson, and Jacob Stickles join the action.

Canada’s Indie Powerhouse

Working completely outside the traditional studio system through their Substance Productions and Tiny Cabin Pictures banners, The Butler Brothers have quietly built a massive indie empire. With 10 directed feature films under their belts (Purgatory Jack, Unfriending), they’ve mastered the art of low-budget, high-impact genre filmmaking.

“FrightFest has built an incredible reputation for championing original genre filmmaking,” said Brett and Jason Butler. “We’re thrilled to bring STARSUCKERS to London and experience it with one of the world’s most passionate festival audiences.”

When & Where to Catch It

The FrightFest main event opens its doors from August 27–31 at ODEON Cinemas Leicester Square and West End. But, if you miss it, don’t panic. There’s an encore screening set for Saturday, September 5 at FrightFest at the Arzner.

The release dates for STARSUCKERS will be announced following its London debut. We’ll keep you posted.
