DLC Review: ‘REANIMAL: The Prisoner’

THQ Nordic surprised fans of the critically acclaimed REANIMAL with the release of the first DLC, titled The Prisoner, which expands the mystery of the main story.

In REANIMAL: The Prisoner, players are introduced to two new characters: The Prisoner, a child with a sack over their head and a chain around their neck, and The Soldier, a child dressed like a German soldier from WWI, who appears to have helped the Prisoner escape their confinement.

If you played and loved REANIMAL, you’ll love this mysterious tale that takes our little heroes through a nightmarish landscape of urban warfare, with added mechanics not in the base game, such as corpse traveling (yes, traveling through dead bodies), along with riding a motorcycle (which was my favorite part!)

What I loved most about this story is that it hits you hard at the end with a massive cliffhanger after giving you a small bit more of what happened during the events of the base game. The Prisoner is the first of three DLCs that are part of the post-launch “The Expanded World” campaign by THQ to expand on the story and world of REANIMAL.

REANIMAL: The Prisoner is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
