Get ready to hit record on a brand-new audio nightmare. Genre icon Stephen Lang (Don’t Breathe) and Mark McKenna are officially set to headline the upcoming psychological thriller Isolation Booth.

Marking the feature directorial debut of John Beckham, the film promises to turn the high-stakes, sweat-soaked pressure of music production into a full-blown descent into terror, Deadline reports.

A Secluded Studio, an Unhinged Producer, and One Last Hit

The story centers on a once-celebrated songwriter who is desperately battling addiction while staring down the twilight of his career. Escaping to a remote recording studio, he attempts to capture lightning in a bottle for one final shot.

Enter an enigmatic and deeply manipulative music producer, played by Lang. He steps in to help finish the track. No matter what horrifying price the process demands. As the line between artistic genius and destruction dissolves, the studio rapidly transforms into a pressure cooker. One where soul and sanity are up for negotiation.

Real Musicians and Legendary Recording Grounds Elevate the Dread

Rather than relying on actors faking their way through a guitar solo, the film leans heavily on absolute authenticity. Director John Beckham revealed that the cast features actual musicians playing their instruments live on camera, creating a grounded sense of realism that seamlessly bleeds into surreal, otherworldly terror. Adding even more weight to the sonic nightmare, the project was shot on location at the iconic Pachyderm Recording Studio, a legendary real-life space whose historic walls have witnessed their fair share of musical madness.

“I’m excited to share what feels like a unique take on the psychological thriller genre, where the actors are actual musicians, playing their instruments on camera, blending cinematic realism into a world that can sometimes feel like a different reality,” Beckham stated.

Stephen Lang Teases an “Otherworldly” Tempter

Lang himself expressed enthusiasm for the role. He described his character as a mysterious blend of guide, conscience, and seductive tempter pulling a battered rock star through the agony of artistic creation.

“There is an otherworldly aspect to the role that I find challenging as he serves as guide, conscience, and tempter to the battered body and bruised soul of a rock star in the throes of artistic creation and destruction. Plus I dig the music,” Stephen Lang said.

Featuring a strong supporting ensemble that includes Cory Jeacoma, Micah Joe Parker, Isa Grofsorean, and Meghan Kreidler, Isolation Booth promises a dark, riff-heavy thrill ride in which making hit music literally costs an arm and a leg.
