After being expelled from Tromaville High School, our highly tatted, skimpily dressed heroines D.d. (Elizabeth D’Ambrosio) and Mercy (Mercedes The Muse, who also wrote and directed the picture… as she did on Troma’s Divide & Conquer as well as many more) try their level-headed best to secure jobs in the real world… but after a series of disastrous work place experiences (at least one of which features that ol’ family fav; un-simulated on-screen pissing) our protagonists discover that a virus is turning horny men’s dicks into monsters (also dicks)… dicks with faces that expel green jizz.
As anyone would, they arm themselves with dildo-based weaponry and queef balloons and take to the streets to do battle with those phreaky phalluses as The Super Tromettes!
Before long they discover that the virus is man-made and after recruiting new members into their ranks… including the ADHD-riddled roller-skatin’ Hypergirl (split-tongued dynamo Knotty Peach, also from Divide & Conquer) and disabled tech-genius Tekno (Jade Theriault, as you may have guessed, Divide & Conquer) who sports both a cock-crushin’ robot arm and Tourette’s syndrome… against the monstrous evil behind all of the penis-centric pandemonium!
Rise of the Super Tromettes may be the closest a Troma flick has come to matching the energy and vibe of the VHS days of the company’s output… you know, like Toxie, Sgt. Kabukiman et.al.
Rough around the edges, comprised of plenty of shock value and offensiveness, graced with nudity all over the fuckin’place… this is a balls deep plunge into the Tromaville community pool (with plenty of Tromaville landmarks featured via stock footage)… it’s pure in your face gonzo insanity!
The film also features a fun wrap-around segment that presents the action we are about to see being read by a child in a comic book (narrated by Troma President, Lloyd Kaufman)… it’s full of heart, albeit a tattooed and kinda spiky one… but heart all the fucking same.
Truth be told this entire film is filled with heart… and while the characters behave in ways that would send normal folk into fits (and thank shit we aren’t those types, eh cats n’ creeps?!!), there’s an irresistible, punk rock “Let’s put on a fucking show” aesthetic that manages to cram in everything from Super Sentai-action, to claymation, to gnarly practical effects!
Adding to the mayhem at hand, Troma have chucked a few extra features on this Blu-ray such as a brief “making of” piece set to Rise of the Super Tromettes rockin’ theme tune performed by the Tromatizers (and you can hear it for yourself below!), an intro to the film courtesy of Kaufman, a faux commercial for Club Mesa (the strip joint our heroines briefly work at), a tour of Mercedes the Muse’s absolutely rad as fuck Toxic Avenger collection, and the film’s trailer.
If you couldn’t tell, Rise of the Super Tromettes is Troma ghoulish gold through and through!
