Beyond Fest, the highest-attended genre film festival in the United States, has partnered with MUBI and the American Cinematheque to present Night Visions: The Shock and Awe of M. Night Shyamalan.
Spanning 27 years and 12 feature films, this landmark retrospective marks the first celebration to feature M. Night Shyamalan in person.
The event includes four specially curated screening blocks at the historic Egyptian Theatre. Audiences can experience the director’s masterclasses in subverted genre tropes, psychological dread, and deeply human storytelling. The event will also feature intimate Q&A sessions that dissect his cinematic legacy.
Four Featured Blocks at the Egyptian Theatre
The retrospective kicks off on Sunday, September 27 at 11:00 AM with The Eastrail 177 Trilogy. The screening features Unbreakable, Split, and Glass. It will be followed back-to-back by an in-person Q&A with Shyamalan.
Later that evening, on September 27, at 7:00 PM, apocalyptic terror takes center stage with The End of the World Is Nigh(t). It pairs Signs and Knock at the Cabin to examine home-centric dread, sacrifice, and crises of faith.
On Monday, September 28 at 7:00 PM, The Power of Paranoia explores claustrophobic suspense through The Visit and Trap, highlighting how ordinary environments can transform into tightly engineered traps.
The Egyptian Theatre programming concludes on Tuesday, September 29, at 7:00 PM with I See (More) Dead People, featuring a special introduction and post-screening Q&A with M. Night Shyamalan for the cultural phenomenon The Sixth Sense.
