A compelling exclusive new clip offers audiences an enchanting glimpse into Wicker, the upcoming romantic fantasy feature adapted from Ursula Wills-Jones’s acclaimed short story The Wicker Husband.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of a medieval coastal village, the film centers on a deeply isolated fisherwoman. She chooses an unprecedented path to companionship. Tired of her social ostracization, she hires a skilled local artisan to weave her a spouse entirely out of Wicker. However, this sets off a chain of unexpected events that challenge the quiet community.

An All-Star Cast and Unconventional Characters

Academy Award winner Olivia Colman stars as the resilient yet desperate fisherwoman. Peter Dinklage portrays the master basket maker tasked with bringing her vision to life. Alexander Skarsgård steps into the role of the woven creation who miraculously comes to life. A striking departure from the darker, more intense roles that have defined much of his career, Skarsgård delivers a tender performance.

The impressive ensemble cast is rounded out by high-profile talent, including Elizabeth Debicki, Richard E. Grant, Marli Siu, and Nabhaan Rizwan.

Township Jealousy and Social Upheaval

The central story introduces a whimsical yet deeply disruptive element to the isolated seaside town. As the woman’s extraordinary relationship with her handcrafted partner flourishes, the tight-knit medieval society, however, reacts with intense outrage. What begins as a personal attempt to escape loneliness quickly escalates into a broader conflict. It threatens the village’s rigid social order as townspeople struggle to accept an intruder made of natural vine and magic.

Behind the Screen and Release Details

Directed by Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson, Wicker blends rich atmospheric visuals with a poignant exploration of love and longing. Produced by Topic Studios and Black Bear, the feature is set for its highly anticipated theatrical debut on November 14.
