“Kid Cudi” Shares First Look at His New Horror Film ‘Wrong Number’

Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi is officially thriving in horror. He’s just served fans with a first look at his second directorial feature, Wrong Number. Sharing sneak-peek images from the set on social media, the rapper, writer, director, and star teased the upcoming film. Also, he’s issued a warning: “Heads ain’t ready.”

A Romance Turns Deadly

“Kid Cudi” stars alongside Barbie Ferreira (Faces of Death) in a story centered on Ibn, a lonely self-help author whose life spirals out of control. An unexpected romance with a mysterious woman named Eliza (Ferreira) turns into a waking nightmare. Ibn finds himself hunted by an unseen stalker—one who is the suspect in a string of brutal murders.

An Ensemble Cast Built for Thrills

Rounding out the talent behind and in front of the camera, Wrong Number features a stacked supporting cast including Lucy Barrett (Deep Water), Dewayne Perkins (The Blackening), Clifton Powell (Ray), and Laura Harrier (Michael). Cinematographer Adam Madrzyk is handling the visual palette for the Los Angeles production, which officially kicked off filming last month.

A Passion Project for a Lifelong Horror Fan

For Mescudi, stepping behind the camera for a terrifying narrative is a natural evolution. A self-described horror enthusiast, the musician-turned-filmmaker previously shared his excitement for stepping into the director’s chair for a genre piece. He called the movie a fun, original ride that packs all the elements of an epic thriller.

“A lot of people know that I’m a huge horror buff. And it was only a matter of time before I’d jump into the genre myself with my own stories,” Mescudi stated. “Wrong Number is a fun ride, an original story that has all the elements of an epic horror thriller, and I can’t wait for you all to experience it.”

The project follows a busy stretch of genre roles for Mescudi. He appeared in Ti West’s X, Trap, and Silent Night, as well as his leading performance in the upcoming cosmic horror feature Pathetic Fallacy. His directorial debut, Doe, an addiction drama, is also set for release in 2027.
