Epic Pictures and its genre-specialty label, Dread, are gearing up to release Devour. Directed by Scott B. Hansen alongside writer Desiree Hansen, this unhinged supernatural horror feature mixes heavy metal riffs, neck-snapping vampires, flesh-munching cannibals, a furry werewolf, and a rogue warlock into one chaotic nightmare. Genre fans can catch the wild premiere when the film debuts on October 13th.

Riffs, Teeth, and Warlocks

The story follows an all-female heavy metal band stranded in the middle of nowhere after a disastrous gig. Their evening quickly turns apocalyptic when they attempt to rescue a distressed stranger along the road. As a result, the rescue inadvertently traps the musicians in a remote town ruled by a dark warlock. Surrounded by supernatural predators, they must unleash their own dark magic to shred their way out before sunrise.

Old-School Practical Creature Effects

Rather than relying on digital visual effects, the production brings its creatures to life through practical prosthetics and animatronics. FX artist Wayne Anderson collaborated with the OX FX crew to build physical beasts that shared actual set space with the actors. Combined with director Scott B. Hansen’s extensive music video background, the film creates a visceral world where metal culture and creature features collide head-on.

Cast and Festival Success

The gorefest stars KateLynn E. Newberry, Gus Langley, Alex Lucchesi, Chelsea LeSage, Gaven Wilde, and Butcher Babies frontwoman Heidi Shepherd. Before its official release, the feature earned over a dozen festival selections and several prestigious awards. The movie also won Best Feature, Best Director, and Best Vampire Feature at the Freakshow Horror Film Festival.

Get ready for metal, monsters, and mayhem; Devour is out on October 13. Pre-order it now.
