It has been a decade since Jeremy Saulnier unleashed Green Room, one of the most intense thrillers in recent memory. After directing Murder Party and Blue Ruin, Saulnier initially seemed poised to dominate the horror world. However, the filmmaker subsequently pivoted into gritty action-thrillers like Hold the Dark and Rebel Ridge. Meanwhile, those projects delivered high-octane suspense, and genre enthusiasts eagerly awaited his full return to visceral terror: Slayground.

A24 Unveils New Poster for Slayground

A24 recently unveiled a new promotional poster for the project and confirmed a January release. The first trailer has also arrived, teasing a heart-pounding horror film about a mass murder, a man on the run, and a movie you don’t want to miss.

Halloween Terror Set Inside a Haunted Attraction

Slayground transforms a seasonal, immersive haunted house attraction into a claustrophobic pressure cooker. Named after the fictional haunt where the story unfolds, Slayground centers on a fugitive played by Cory Michael Smith. He finds himself named the primary suspect in a high-profile mass murder investigation. After pulling off a desperate escape from the law’s custody, he flees into the night while a massive multi-agency search closes in around him. Scrambling to evade authorities and clear his name, he takes cover inside the labyrinthine haunted maze. However, it quickly turns the attraction into a deadly battleground.

Horror fans can look forward to eerie vibes early in the new year. Placing unsuspecting characters into seemingly fake spooky settings remains an enduring staple of the genre, reminiscent of classics like The Funhouse alongside modern hits like Haunt and Hell House LLC.

A Powerhouse Ensemble Cast Assembles

To bring this nightmare to life, Saulnier assembled an incredible ensemble of established genre talent and breakout stars. The stacked cast includes Imogen Poots, James Badge Dale, Matty Matheson, Cory Michael Smith, Chase Sui Wonders, Sophie Wilde, Young Mazino, and Stephen Root. With such an impressive cast and an iconic horror setup, Saulnier looks ready to deliver a must-see haunted-attraction film when it premieres on January 29, 2027.
