It’s no secret, I’m a big fan of the Remothered games. This started back when I first began to cover Remothered: Tormented Fathers, and after reviewing it, I was fascinated by the story and gameplay. Then I got the privilege to check out its sequel, Broken Porcelain, which kind of left me disappointed with its bugs. Now, it all comes down to this: the grand finale of the series, and Stormind Games were awesome again, allowing me to dive headfirst into the world of Remothered one last time with Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy.

Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy takes us to Sicily in 2012 as we follow Susan Harper (Cissy Jones) and her husband, Angelo, who arrive at the Villa Ashmann after receiving a tape in the mail showing their kidnapped daughter. Once inside, Susan must hide for her life as she uncovers the Ashmann family’s secrets and the origin of its most notorious resident, the Red Nun (Maggie Robertson).

Now. Onto the game itself! The game’s controls take a bit to learn at first, but there are tutorials, though I feel some of them could start earlier, before much of the action kicks off.

The art for Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy is gorgeous; the lighting, and sometimes lack thereof, adds to the terror and tension. I love the character models for our Stalkers, especially with the most unsettling villain I’ve encountered in a long time, The Bride. My only complaint in this area is the look of our heroine, Susan. It was nagging that she looked too familiar to me before I realized she had a strong resemblance to Ellie from The Last of Us games. Because I could not unsee the resemblance, Cissy Jones’ voice sounded out of place (though her voice performance was good!).

The game’s soundtrack is good; I know they pushed that Akira Yamaoka did the soundtrack along with Aram Shahbazians, though some of Yamaoka’s works were used in this; the soundtrack used in-game was mainly Shahbazians ‘, which, in this day and age, is a big risk for any company to market one thing while giving another, not saying the soundtrack was bad.

Headphones are a must for this, as the sound design will mess with your ears and bravery. The sounds of the crumbling building and the rumbles of Mt.Etna play with your emotions as you try to listen if one of the stalkers is nearby.

Gameplay-wise, this is a lot like the previous two games; it’s more focused on stealth and hiding rather than fighting. There are puzzles to solve and collectables (mainly documents) that help shed light on the story as a whole. Speaking of story! The game brings the events of the previous two games to a close in this one, unfortunatly that will be new players will be completely lost with the story.

Speaking of story. Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy, like the combination of the previous two games, has a confusing spiderweb of lore that gets lost in the shuffle, as there are too many storylines in all three titles that make the overall story confusing, but one thing is clear: Trauma and the horrors it manifests are the core of the game. With that said, a bit of a content warning: the game deals with sexual violence.

Overall, in comparison with the two other titles, Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy was very good; it’s up there with Tormented Fathers, but outshines Broken Porcelain, where I think the overcomplication of the game’s plot/story begins to become confusing. It was a decent ending to the series that strangely ends ambiguously; I can’t tell if the story is over or if it’s a chapter in a bigger one that’s going to continue.

Gameplay is decent; they have added some decent jump scares that got me a couple of times. The voiceover work for a good share of the cast was amazing; the music adds to the atmosphere, and the overall look of the game is beautiful. The only major issues I’ve had were towards the end of the game, where I encountered some sound and graphical glitches, which I’m sure will be patched after the time of writing.

On my scale of 1-10, Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy is an 8.5

Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy arrives on October 27th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and will be coming out on December 3rd, 2026.
