Legendary studio Hammer Film Productions is returning to its roots with a chilling new survival horror feature. The iconic horror company officially announced Ithaqua, bringing atmospheric dread to modern moviegoers. This ambitious project also continues Hammer’s long-standing legacy of folklore-driven storytelling. The chilling nightmare promises a wild ride for genre enthusiasts everywhere.
A Twelve-Year Passion Project
Director Casey Walker makes his subgenre directorial debut with this intense feature. He previously gained attention as executive producer on the sleeper horror hit In a Violent Nature. Walker also spent twelve years developing this deeply personal passion project.
An Ancient Evil Awakens
The terrifying story unfolds in the unforgiving, frozen Canadian wilderness. Trouble begins when a remote Indigenous settlement suddenly falls completely silent without warning. As a result, Fort William hires investigator Cole Franklin to locate the missing residents.
Unfortunately, Cole arrives to find a scene of unimaginable slaughter. He quickly realizes that an ancient, unnatural force lingers in the snowbound woods. Suffocating paranoia takes hold as starvation and extreme cabin fever erode order. Neighbors turn violently against one another while primordial survival instincts take over. Cole must lead a desperate band of survivors against an unseen monster.
A Stellar Ensemble Cast
Walker assembled an extraordinary ensemble cast to anchor this haunting nightmare. Luke Hemsworth leads the impressive lineup alongside veteran character actor Kevin Durand. The strong supporting cast also includes Craig Lauzon, Leenah Robinson, and Michael Pitt. Peter Scott Vicaire co-wrote the screenplay alongside Pascal Trottier and Walker.
A New Era of Dread
Hammer Films originally gained global fame through legendary classics like Dracula and The Mummy. After producer John Gore acquired it, the company is now actively expanding its production reach. Now, this western gothic nightmare enters an exciting new release phase.
Ahead of its final night screening at Filmquest, a dark teaser trailer introduces the creature known as the “Wind with Teeth.” Horror enthusiasts eagerly await an official announcement of the theatrical release date. In the meantime, check out the chilling first images from the film.
