Jigsaw is back in Saw X, the next installment of one of horror’s most successful franchises, with new traps and new victims.
As for the upcoming film’s plot, it’s still being kept under wraps, but Lionsgate has stated the following about Saw X, which is rumored to take place between the first film and the second.
“The return of Tobin Bell to the franchise furthers Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures’ goal of a film that captures everything Saw fans love about the franchise, while also keeping them guessing with all-new traps and a new mystery to solve.”
Franchise star Tobin Bell is returning for the movie as John Kramer/Jigsaw, who died in Saw III and has since appeared in the franchise in flashbacks. Shawnee Smith is also returning as Jigsaw’s victim-turned-protégé Amanda Young, who survived Jigsaw’s infamous “reverse bear trap” to become Jigsaw’s apprentice in Saw II.
The cast of the upcoming film also includes Renata Vaca (Midnight Family), Paulette Hernandez (Crown of Tears), Joshua Okamoto (Control-Z), Synnøve Macody Lund (Ragnarok), Octavio Hinojosa (Come Play With Me), Steven Brand (“The Sandman”), and Michael Beach (Dahmer).
Saw franchise veteran Kevin Greutert returns to direct Saw X. He also directed Saw VI and Saw: The Final Chapter (aka Saw 3D) and edited the first five Saw films as well as Jigsaw (2017).
Greutert announced back in February that filming has wrapped on Saw X, which is set to open in theaters on October 27, 2023.
Josh Stolberg (Jigsaw) and Peter Goldfinger (Spiral) returned to the franchise and penned the script for the film produced by Mark Burg and Oren Koules. Horror heavy hitter James Wan, who co-created the franchise, is executive producing along with Ketura Kestin and Daniel J. Heffner.
We’ll keep you posted as more details are revealed.
