Blumhouse Atomic recently signed an exclusive first-look partnership with Tiny Onion, the creative studio owned by James Tynion IV. As a result, the major horror powerhouses will develop Tynion’s extensive intellectual property across film, television, and animation. Additionally, Blumhouse Atomic will collaborate with Tiny Onion and Lyrical Media to adapt Exquisite Corpses. This acclaimed serial-killer battle royale comic book series co-created with artist Michael Walsh has already sold over one million copies in eighteen months.

Expanding Beyond Existing Hits

Previously, Blumhouse Atomic began developing Tynion’s hit series Something Is Killing The Children into both live-action and adult animated features. Expanding their relationship felt like a natural strategic step forward for both companies. CEO Jason Blum praised Tynion’s sharp storytelling instincts and deep dedication to horror. Furthermore, Tynion expressed enthusiasm about aligning with a production studio so fiercely committed to horror projects.

“James has been a valued partner on Something Is Killing The Children, which is why we wanted to expand our relationship. He has great storytelling instincts with a passion for the horror genre,” said Jason Blum, CEO and Co-Founder, Blumhouse Atomic. “As we look to develop more IP, this felt like a great fit, and we’re happy to take the next step with him and Tiny Onion.”

Tiny Onion Drives New Adaptations

Tynion launched Tiny Onion in 2024 following a key investment from Lyrical Media. The company releases graphic novels through major publishers while directly managing multimedia adaptations. Beyond Exquisite Corpses, Tiny Onion and Lyrical Media are actively developing a film adaptation of Room Service. Meanwhile, director Craig Zobel will helm the live-action Something Is Killing The Children feature, which officially enters production next year.

The Powerhouse Behind Blumhouse Atomic

Blumhouse Atomic formed through the merger of Jason Blum’s Blumhouse and James Wan’s Atomic Monster. Operating through two distinct labels, the unified company produces original features alongside legendary horror franchises. For instance, their portfolio includes The Conjuring, Insidious, The Purge, and M3GAN. Ultimately, this partnership ensures that Tynion’s terrifying visual universes will reach huge global audiences.
