Showtown American Pictures and Cannon Fire Productions are collaborating on the upcoming indie horror film Bitter Souls, which stars Vareana Rose and welcomes actor Michael Hargrove to the cast.

Hargrove is known for his role in MonkeyPaw Production’s Candyman (2021). He won the Black Theatre Alliance’s Sidney Poitier Award in 2002 for his leading role in the play “Will He Bop, Will He Drop.” He has also starred in “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago P.D.”

Bitter Souls is directed by Tom Ryan (Return to Theatre of Terror). It follows a teenage girl who is tragically killed in an accident. She’s brought back to life through dark magic but with a vengeful twist. Fueled by a desire for retribution, she uses her newfound powers to target those responsible for her demise.

This chilling tale blends elements of gothic horror with the complexities of teenage angst and first love. The script, adapted by Ryan, is based on a story concept by Ed McKeever and Steve Gray.

Filming for Bitter Souls is slated to begin in June 2024 in Carbondale and Scranton, Pennsylvania. Producers Ed McKeever, Todd Oifer, Drew McCallum, Vincent Sarullo (Showtown American Pictures), Robert Savakinus (Cannon Fire Productions), and support from Michael Joy (HorrorNews.net), Paul Hughbanks, and Babes Against Bullying.

With a talented cast and a seasoned production team, Bitter Souls promises to be a hauntingly compelling addition to the genre. Stay tuned for further updates as production unfolds.
