In one BBC poll, 75 percent of people revealed having problems with their mothers-in-laws. That issue takes a terrifying turn in A24’s new movie, The Front Room.
The Front Room is based on a short story by Susan Hill, which was featured in The Travelling Bag and Other Ghostly Stories. The film centers on a couple whose lives take a horrifying turn when they take in the husband’s estranged, ailing mother. But this nightmare of a mother-in-law is about to get a run for her money.
The Front Room stars actress and singer “Brandy” Norwood (I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise). Brandy stars opposite award-winning actress Kathryn Hunter (The Tragedy of Macbeth). They are joined by Tony Award winner Andrew Burnap (Snow White) and Neal Huff (Spotlight).
The film marks the directing debut of the Eggers brothers, Max and Sam. Max and Sam are the siblings of acclaimed filmmaker Robert Eggers (Nosferatu). With Max co-writing the critically acclaimed The Lighthouse and Sam’s experience on Robert’s The Witch, The Front Room has the potential to be a chilling new chapter in the Eggers family’s horror legacy.
Mark your calendars for September 6th, 2024, when the movie will hit theaters. Get your tickets now.
