The Baphomet Seance was released in 1983 but wouldn’t be available long. The film was quickly removed from distribution and banned after the public found controversy surrounding its Satanic subject. The film’s content shocked people; some viewers even claimed they were experiencing supernatural events after watching it. To this day, the film is not even listed on IMDb.

After 40 years, the movie has now resurfaced. A mysterious entity has purchased the original negatives and plans to rerelease The Baphomet Seance.

At its core, the allure of forbidden knowledge fuels The Baphomet Séance. The film represents itself as an instructional video on conducting seances and talking to the dead. For many viewers, The Baphomet Séance is more than just a horror film. It’s a haunting journey into the dark, rebellion, and exploration of societal boundaries and personal limitations.

The Baphomet Seance was released during the ’80s Satanic Panic, a time when many people were hypervigilant about anything that could be possibly seen as satanic or evil, including films, games, and music.  At the time, you couldn’t open a newspaper or turn on the TV without seeing reports of satanic rituals, killings, and accusations. Thanks to people like Charles Manson, devil worship didn’t seem so far-fetched. Even McDonalds and The Smurfs weren’t exempt from speculations.

After remaining dormant for decades, the film is being re-released in select theaters and horror conventions. For screening information, please visit the film’s official website, which displays this message:

The creators the film deny that this film has any attachment to the occult stating that there is nothing inherently evil or demonic about this. Everything seen, heard, felt or experienced during this film can be explained entirely by scientific means. However participants are advised to proceed at their own risk.
