The wait for one of the year’s most anticipated horror returns is nearly over. And now, AMC has finally unveiled a new clip from “The Terror: Devil in Silver,” and it confirms what we’ve suspected for a while: Dan Stevens has officially completed his evolution from “Downton Abbey” heartthrob to the internet’s favorite genre-bending powerhouse.
Stevens begins by looking like a reliable, working-class stepdad. But because this is an installment of The Terror, domestic bliss is short-lived. By the end of the footage, he’s being forcibly admitted to a psychiatric facility that makes a traditional haunted house look like a five-star resort.
The third chapter of AMC’s acclaimed anthology is set to premiere on AMC+ and Shudder, and it is a six-episode masterclass in atmospheric dread.
Check-In at the Hospital from Hell
Stevens stars as Pepper, a blue-collar mover who finds himself trapped within the walls of New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital. The official synopsis describes New Hyde as a “dumping ground” for the forgotten—a place where society hides the people it would rather ignore.
Pepper’s survival guide for the season is a grim one: Dodging patients who are out for blood. Then there’s navigating doctors with “grim secrets” that go far beyond standard professional misconduct. His biggest trial is facing off against a malevolent entity that might actually be the Devil himself.
However, the supernatural threats are only half the battle. Pepper soon realizes that the most terrifying “boss fight” he faces is the internal darkness lurking in his own psyche.
A Powerhouse Creative Team
This season isn’t just relying on jump scares; it’s backed by a verified horror “dream team.” The series is executive produced by cinematic legend Ridley Scott and Karyn Kusama (Yellowjackets), with Kusama lending her distinct visual style to the first two episodes.
The showrunners, Chris Cantwell (Halt and Catch Fire) and Victor LaValle (author of the source novel), have curated an ensemble cast that is almost overqualified for this much suffering. Stevens stars alongside Judith Light (Transparent), Aasif Mandvi (“Evil”), CCH Pounder (“The Shield”), Stephen Root (“Barry”), and Chinaza Uche (“Silo”). Be sure to check out our interview with the showrunners below.
Suspensions Arise – The New Clip
In the new clip, we are introduced to Dori, who suggests it may not be a coincidence that one patient dies and another (Pepper) appears, implying something fishy is going on. And well, it is.
