1999 was a time when Santana and Rob Thomas’ song “Smooth” and Prince’s hit “1999” were playing on burned CDs, and the fear surrounding Y2K was the topic of every conversation.
The new horror comedy Y2K, which opened in theaters this weekend, turns that fear to 10 as things take a horrific turn. This action-packed fun flick features a horde of familiar faces, including Jaeden Martell, Rachel Zegler, Julian Dennison, The Kid Laroi, Alicia Silverstone, Tim Heidecker, and Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst.
Directed by Kyle Mooney (Zoolander 2), the movie Y2K sees two high school nobodies decide to crash the last major celebration before the new millennium on New Year’s Eve 1999. The night becomes even crazier than they could have ever dreamed when the clock strikes midnight, and the bodies begin to pile up.
