If you thought the Necronomicon was done ruining family vacations and apartment complexes, think again. The bloodiest franchise in horror history is currently working overtime. Warner Bros. and New Line are making sure we don’t run out of blood and deadites anytime soon.

Franchise fans are already hyperventilating over director Sébastien Vaniček’s upcoming Evil Dead Burn, which hits theaters next month on July 10. But we’ve just received confirmation that yet another standalone nightmare has officially wrapped production.

Get ready to swallow some more souls. Evil Dead Wrath is officially in the can and has locked in a theatrical release date for April 7, 2028!

A New Master of the Macabre Takes the Reins

Steering this latest vehicle into the deadite-infested abyss is writer-director Francis Galluppi. If that name rings a bell, it’s because he recently blew critics away with his tense, masterful feature debut, The Last Stop in Yuma County.

True to the franchise’s legendary secrecy, plot details for Evil Dead Wrath are currently locked inside a basement trapdoor. We know absolutely nothing about the specific story, location, or how many gallons of fake blood were ordered on the studio’s credit card. However, franchise godfather Sam Raimi is already singing Galluppi’s praises, which is basically the ultimate horror co-sign.

“Francis Galluppi is a storyteller who knows when to keep us waiting in simmering tension and when to hit us with explosive violence,” Raimi told Deadline. “He is a director that shows uncommon control in his feature debut.”

Translation: Prepare to have your nerves shredded before the gore inevitably hits the fan.

The Fresh Meat: Meet the Cast

Much like Evil Dead Rise and the upcoming Evil Dead Burn, Wrath is expected to abandon the classic Ash Williams lore. Instead, a brand-new group of unfortunate souls who accidentally read from the wrong book.

The production has assembled a fantastic ensemble of genre veterans and rising stars. Charlotte Hope (The Nun) stars alongside Jessica McNamee (Mortal Kombat), Zach Gilford (The absolute standout from Mike Flanagan’s Midnight Mass), and Josh Helman (Mad Max: Fury Road). Ella Newton (Dangerous Animals), Elizabeth Cullen (Diabolic), and Ella Oliphant round out the cast.

The Legacy Team Is Watching

While a fresh directorial voice is behind the camera, the OG architects of the universe are still pulling the strings from the shadows. Sam Raimi and longtime franchise producer Rob Tapert are producing the film.

Meanwhile, horror icon Bruce Campbell is serving as executive producer alongside Evil Dead Rise director Lee Cronin, Romel Adam, and Jose Canas. So even if Ash isn’t onscreen physically delivering one-liners, his groovy DNA is deeply embedded in the project.

It’s a beautiful, terrifying time to be an Evil Dead fan. Stay tuned, lock your cabins, don’t read a human skin-covered book, and start counting down the days.

Evil Dead Wrath will scream into theaters on April 7, 2028.
