Get ready to work up a killer sweat—and maybe spill some actual blood. Part horror movie, part retro fitness tape, the genre mashup Slashercise is officially ready to slice into your workout routine.  If you’ve ever felt like your gym’s personal trainers were trying to kill you, this movie is about to validate your worst fears.

High Reps, High Body Count

Written and directed by Ama Lea (Deathcember), this gloriously retro feature follows a masked psycho known only as Meathead. Meathead is actively stalking the trendy fitness clubs of Los Angeles. He’s turning neon-drenched workout sessions into total, blood-soaked nightmares. As the city’s top trainers are picked off one by one, a group of determined fitness fanatics has to band together to fight back before they become the next chalk outlines on the yoga mats.

Slashercise is a blood-soaked love letter to 1980s workout videos and slasher movies,” says filmmaker Ama Lea.

The Class Roster: Horror Royalty in Spandex

You can’t have a throwback slasher without a stacked deck of genre icons. Slashercise boasts an ensemble cast of horror heavy hitters who know a thing or two about surviving the night. Scream queens Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), Kelli Maroney (Night of the Comet), Lisa Wilcox (A Nightmare on Elm Street 4), and Tiffany Shepis (Victor Crowley) lead the charge. They are joined by The Last Drive-In legends John Bloom (Joe Bob Briggs himself) and Diana Prince (Darcy the Mail Girl).  Spencer Charnas of the horror-metal band Ice Nine Kills also appears. Rounding out the gym floor are Vanessa Decker, Sarah French, Sarah Nicklin, and Jared Rivet.

A Different Kind of Workout Video

Channeling the pure camp energy of Linnea Quigley’s Horror Workout, this film isn’t trying to sell you a legitimate calorie burner. As star Vanessa Decker puts it, the team never set out to make a traditional fitness video. But rather an experience horror fans could laugh with, sweat through, and revisit again and again.

Grab your leg warmers, lock the gym doors, and check out the teaser below to watch Meathead turn fitness into a deadly art form. Remember: no pain, no gain.

The film will premiere exclusively on BloodStream subscribers on July 1, before expanding to additional platforms on October 1, 2026.
