Apple TV+ is officially adding some heavy hitters to its monster roster. Millie Brady (The Last Kingdom) and Pilou Asbæk (Foundation, Game of Thrones) have signed on as series regulars for Legendary’s upcoming, as-yet-untitled Monsterverse spin-off series.
They join the previously announced lead, Wyatt Russell, who is back into the uniform of Young Lee Shaw from Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Exactly who Brady and Asbæk are playing is currently classified higher than a Monarch field report.
Top Gun Meets Godzilla
Helmed by showrunner Joby Harold, the series trades the modern era for the neon-and-paranoia of 1984. We follow a younger Colonel Lee Shaw (Russell) as he embarks on a top-secret mission behind enemy lines. His objective? To stop the Soviet Union from unleashing a horrific new Titan. One massive enough to turn the tide of the Cold War. Because apparently, nuclear deterrence wasn’t stressful enough without a giant lizard involved.
The Creative Brain Trust
To ensure the series lands with maximum impact, JD Dillard (Devotion, The Outsider) will direct the pilot episode. Joby Harold and partner Tory Tunnell are executive producing via Safehouse Pictures, and they aren’t stopping here—the duo is actively developing multiple new series within the evolving Monsterverse for Apple TV+.
Joining them on the executive producing team are Wyatt Russell, Chris Black, Kyle Bradstreet, Alex Boden, and Dillard. And because you can’t have a giant monster party without the hosts, Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita are executive producing on behalf of Toho Co., Ltd. (the legendary keepers of the Godzilla crown).
The Bigger Monster Picture
Legendary’s Monsterverse continues to be an absolute juggernaut. Since kicking off with Godzilla in 2014, the cinematic universe has smashed through Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla vs. Kong, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Up next on the big screen? The eagerly anticipated sequel, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, is slated to shake theaters in 2027.
