In the deepest, most untouched reaches of the Amazon basin, humanity’s modern hubris is about to collide with an ancient monster.

The suspense-horror feature Beware Boiúna promises a pulse-pounding descent into the green hell of the rainforest. What begins as a routine humanitarian mission quickly devolves into an absolute nightmare. A team of medical volunteers accidentally rouses an ancient force, one that has slumbered beneath the riverbed for centuries.

Folklore Meets Terror

The film centers on a group of doctors and aid workers. They venture into an isolated stretch of the jungle to deliver emergency medical relief to remote river communities. However, the Amazon doesn’t care about good intentions. Their expedition inadvertently disturbs the resting place of Boiúna, a legendary, colossal apex predator rooted in Brazilian river folklore. Suddenly, they are cut off from satellite communications, stranded on treacherous waters, and hunted from both the canopy and the deep black rivers. The survivors must navigate a relentless landscape where nature holds absolute power. However, Boiúna alone decides who lives, who dies, and who gets dragged into the dark.

The Talent Behind the Terror

Directed by Mike P. Nelson (Wrong Turn [2021], V/H/S/85), Beware Boiúna is built on a sharp, suspense-driven foundation designed to exploit every primal fear of the dark and the unknown.

Alan McElroy (Wrong Turn) penned the script based on a story co-crafted alongside Tony Giglio (Doom: Annihilation). Producing the feature are genre veterans Jeremy Bolt (Resident Evil franchise) and Robert Kulzer (Monster Hunter). This practically guarantees a heavy-hitting blend of practical tension, creature mechanics, and relentless pacing.

Cast & Key Details

Leading the fight is an impressive trio of genre favorites known for bringing intensity and grit to the screen. Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day, Boy Kills World) stars alongside Logan Marshall-Green (Upgrade, The Invitation, Prometheus), and Kiana Madeira (Fear Street Trilogy, After Everything).

So, get ready for a terror-filled trip into the jungle. Beware Boiúna slashes its way into theaters on October 2, from Lionsgate. Today, we have the first look at images from the creature feature that tease the terror that awaits you amongst the trees.
