I recently had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with horror icon Ted Raimi. We discussed not only his legacy but also his new series, the dark, whimsical series, “Your Dearest Darkest Friend with Ted Raimi.” This theatrical talk show reinvents the classic late-night interview format. The series premieres exclusively on the SCREAMBOX streaming platform on October 30. Watch as Raimi and I delve into it.
Intimate Conversations in a Haunted Setting
Raimi welcomes prominent figures from screen and stage into his fantastical haunted manor. Guests enjoy intimate, engaging conversations over custom, spine-tingling cocktails in a cozy environment. Meanwhile, Raimi strips back media personas to uncover the real inspirations behind cinematic nightmares. A mischievous crew of haunted puppets also regularly interrupts the host during his offbeat discussions. Therefore, these unexpected puppet interruptions add bizarre charm and hilarious comedy to every episode.
Nostalgic Inspirations and Exceptional Talent
Concept creator R.R. Abrams originally developed the imaginative idea for this hybrid horror show. Producers Tony Wash, Charlie Queen, Lauren Leshansky, and Ted Raimi oversaw production. The show captures nostalgic magic from Pee-wee’s Playhouse and Disney’s Haunted Mansion. It also balances dark theatricality with heartwarming humor.

Ted Raimi built his horror legacy through his brother Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead franchise, portraying stunt doubles, the grotesque Deadite Henrietta in Evil Dead II, and Chet Kaminski in Ash vs Evil Dead. Over four decades, he became a prominent genre mainstay, appearing in major films like Candyman, Shocker, Darkman, Wishmaster, The Grudge, The Midnight Meat Train, and Drag Me to Hell.
Beyond cinema, Raimi has appeared on television in “Zena,” “Twin Peaks,” “Supernatural,” and “Creepshow.” He has also earned widespread acclaim for his motion-capture performance as Sheriff Travis Hackett in the interactive horror video game The Quarry. Raimi’s new series adds to his legacy.
