Mascot Horror has been around for a long time now, as have parkour games; some even incorporated horror and Parkour together…but Mascot Horror and Parkour…with Dinosaurs! That’s what you’ll be getting in WDR Studio’s Terrible Lizards.
Terrible Lizards takes place in 1992 and brings us to the roadside attraction on Route 66, Dalton’s Dinos. Jordan, a college student and track athlete, experiences car trouble and waits inside the attraction for a tow, only to find the sprawling attraction and museum…empty.
Now. Onto the game itself! The controls for the game respond well and are easy to learn. I will say Jordon seems to want to climb on everything if you get too close, which gets a bit annoying, and compared to other parkour games, he seems to “Slide” on landing, meaning he has a bit too much forward momentum.
Sound-wise, the voice acting and soundtrack are phenomenal. The art of the game is fitting for the story it’s telling, a tad cartoonish- but the enemy designs are amazing and super creepy!

When it comes to gameplay, this game is a mix of Five Nights at Freddy’s and Dying Light, but a little more on the Parkour/horror side. The game is first-person; you can explore, usually through parkour, and find collectables and lore that explains more of what’s happening at Dalton’s Dinos. I also love all the Jurassic Park refferences/easter eggs that are in this game!
Overall, I really enjoyed playing Terrible Lizards. It’s Jurassic Park meets Five Nights at Freddy’s and Dying Light! The story is fun; the gameplay is more fun, the monster designs are insane, the voice acting is great. I just wish there was more “Mascot” horror in this, as it seemed to be a SMALL part of it.
On my scale of 1-10, Terrible Lizards scores a 9.5, as there could be some more scares and the enemies could be more menacing.
Terrible Lizards comes out on October 29th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
