A dark new cinematic adaptation of Charles Dickens’ holiday masterpiece arrives in movie theaters nationwide on November 13, 2026. Renowned director Ti West tackles the iconic Victorian tale in his new horror feature titled Ebenezer. Rather than delivering standard holiday cheer, the project emphasizes spectral dread, macabre themes, and psychological terror. The film promises a sinister reimagining that explores the raw nightmare fuel underlying the original story.

Star-Studded Ensemble Lineup

Actor Johnny Depp leads the production as the titular miser Ebenezer Scrooge. He brings a darker, more threatening edge to the familiar character. An impressive cast of genre veterans and Hollywood talent joins him. Oscar nominee Ian McKellen portrays the tortured spirit Jacob Marley, while Andrea Riseborough appears as the Ghost of Christmas Past.

Rupert Grint plays Bob Cratchit, alongside Daisy Ridley as his wife, Emily. Additionally, Tramell Tillman portrays the Ghost of Christmas Present, and Sam Claflin plays Scrooge’s nephew Fred. Supporting actors Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Charlie Murphy, and Henry Lloyd-Hughes round out the talented cast.

Reclaiming the Victorian Gothic Dread

Screenwriter Nathaniel Halpern penned the original script to capture the claustrophobic dread of nineteenth-century Spiritualism. The narrative structures Scrooge’s journey as a terrifying supernatural encounter with spirits of the past, present, and future. Producers Stephen Deuters and Jason Forman executive produce the feature, delivering a visceral cinematic experience. The resulting production stands apart from typical festive adaptations by fully leaning into gothic horror.

Moviegoers can now purchase advance tickets for the upcoming theatrical release through Fandango.
