Rising genre actress Chase Sui Wonders has officially lined up her major project, set to film in 2027. The talented performer recently joined the ensemble cast of A24’s outrageous R-rated puppet feature Goblin.
Wonders continues to build an impressive resume across horror and independent film. Previously, she starred in the hit slasher Bodies Bodies Bodies and the recent I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot. However, she will also appear in the upcoming horror film Slayground and the comedy series “The Studio.”
An Impressive Ensemble Cast Assembled
Wonders joins a stacked cast of popular comedy and drama veterans for the wild production. Acclaimed actor and comedian Will Forte co-stars alongside Booksmart actor Skyler Gisondo. Additionally, legendary filmmaker and actor Kenneth Branagh provides the official voice for the title character. The project brings diverse acting talent together to bring the bizarre puppet narrative to life.
A Raunchy Practical Effects Nightmare
Filmmaker David Mikalson wrote the original screenplay and will direct the feature film. The newcomer generated massive industry buzz after his spec script sparked a competitive Hollywood bidding frenzy. Ultimately, studio powerhouse A24 won the rights to back the ambitious feature-length project. The storyline reads like a raunchy buddy comedy, blending live-action actors with practical puppet effects. Industry insiders also compare the film’s chaotic tone to a wild mix of Ted and E.T.
Bringing a Practical Creature to Life
The creators chose to build the title creature as a physical, practical puppet rather than using CGI. As a result, horror fans are eagerly anticipating a nasty, chaotic energy reminiscent of cult creature features. The physical effects approach promises plenty of absurd practical humor and outrageous physical comedy throughout the movie.
High Expectations for Next Summer
Film fans can look forward to seeing Wonders tackle this unique hybrid comedy next summer. A24 continues to support bold, creative visions from rising independent directors like Mikalson. Goblin stands out as one of the most intriguing R-rated comedies on the production slate. Audiences should expect more casting updates and an official release date as pre-production continues.
Catch Chase Sui Wonders in Slayground, hitting theaters on January 29, 2027.
