Supernatural has added a new star for season 12, rocker Rick Springfield. Springfield is set to play the ultimate bad boy, Lucifer, as his new vessel. Lucifer is regularly played by Mark Pellegrino.
At this weekend’s San Diego Comic Con executive producer Robert Singer announced that Springfield will be playing a “a rock star who’s a little bit on the down side who’s trying to come back.” His character will be taken over by Lucifer who will be trying “a few different vessels” after taking over Castiel’s body in season 11 and getting the hell beat out of him by Amara (God’s sister).

The Australian musician has had an impressive acting career, with roles in series like True Detective, Californication, Battlestar Galactica and a role in 73 episodes of General Hospital. His latest film, Ricki and the Flash, will open in theaters next month.
