The psychological thriller ‘The Axe Murders of Villisca’ has been acquired by Film Mode Entertainment after it’s success at this year’s LA Film Festival. IFC Midnight has picked the North American rights.
The film, from writer-director Tony E. Valenzuela, was co-written by Owen Egerton, based on the story by Kevin Abrams and Valenzuela, Bloody-Disguting reports. Robert Adamson stars alongside Jarrett Sleeper, Alex Frnka, Jon Gries, and Conchata Ferrell.
‘The Axe Murders of Villisca’ “focuses on the paranormal repercussions of what many consider to be the most horrifying unsolved murders in the United States. Now used as a tourist destination, the Villisca Axe Murder House has terrified visitors from around the world and is considered one of the most haunted houses in America. The film follows the present day story of three troubled teens who decide to break in and spend the night at the house, forever changing who they are and what is known about the original murders.”
