In preparation for the upcoming Predator film, I just watched the original and was reminded of the franchise’s greatness. Yeah, it’s been watered down a bit over a few movies and crossovers (although they were fun in their own right).
I was thrilled to hear that Shane Black (who played Hawkins in the original) is directing the upcoming Fred Dekker written film. And even more thrilled at the news Black posted on his twitter account.

Now, gore doesn’t guarantee a good movie, but Black knows and loves the franchise, promises a return to the spirit of the first movie and rumors that it will be set in an urban location with a bigger, and stronger genetically engineered predator (in case an invisible, knife wielding alien with a laser on his shoulder wasn’t good enough).
The ever- growing cast includes Boyd Holbrook, Jacob Tremblay, Sterling K. Brown, Keegan-Michael Key, Trevante Rhodes and Olivia Munn. Thomas Jane is rumored. Kyle Strauts will play the Predator.
Just announced is the addition of Chuck star Yvonne Strahovski to the cast. This movie is looking better and better!
New updated cast list posted by Shane Black shows the ever growing cast and brings refreshed excitement! I feel like a kid at Christmas waiting for this movie.

Black also tweeted that “Every Predator movie should be framed as a hunt” and that cameras are rolling. Black definitely has a vision for what he is doing and it is very obvious that no matter how excited we all are…Black is more excited!
(UPDATED) Thomas Jane is now part of the Predators cast! I have been a fan ever since watching him as The Punisher dragging John Travolta behind a car through a row of explosions. This cast and movie just keeps looking better and better.
