Blu-ray Review: Night of the Creeps (1986)

In 1959, some naked-ass alien bastards chuck an experiment from their spacecraft which crashes on Earth…where some young lovers, Pam and Johnny believe it is a falling star. As her date investigates, Pam is murdered by an ax-wielding maniac on the loose (that her ex-beau police officer Ray Cameron warned the duo about earlier in the evening). Meanwhile Johnny is infected by an alien slug that hops down his throat…so the night is pretty much a bust for both of them. Flash forward to 1986, and college students Chris (Jason Lively) and J.C. (Steve Marshall) try and join a douchey fraternity to impress Cynthia Cronenberg (Jill Whitlow), the woman of Chris’ dreams. In order to complete that task, our heroes are tasked with stealing a corpse and placing it in front of a rival fraternity…which they fuck up in spectacular fashion when they free Johnny’s cryogenically frozen body…which isn’t as dead as everyone would hope. Soon Johnny has released his

Movie Review: Wolfman’s Got Nards (2018)

Since this is a review of a documentary about the cult classic fright flick The Monster Squad that features testimonials of fans’ first experiences with the film, I’ll share mine! I vividly remember when The Monster Squad was coming out in cinemas. I was beyond excited to see a film teaming up classic creatures battling some resourceful kids…the thrills, the spills, the…the…fucking nothin’. That film never made it’s way to the Podunk cinema in my bucolic lil’ town, and there was no way in hell my parents were driving thirty minutes to the next closest theater to check it out. So I saw it when one of my friends taped it off from HBO. I really liked it. The end. Thankfully the stories in Wolfman’s Got Nards are much more entertaining and engaging than that ultra-shit yarn I spun above…though the end result is the same. People like The Monster Squad movie…I mean really, really like it, and their passion

New Predator Will be Bigger and Bloodier (updated)

In preparation for the upcoming Predator film, I just watched the original and was reminded of the franchise’s greatness. Yeah, it’s been watered down a bit over a few movies and crossovers (although they were fun in their own right). I was thrilled to hear that Shane Black (who played Hawkins in the original) is directing the upcoming Fred Dekker written film. And even more thrilled at the news Black posted on his twitter account. @BonadfideBlack and, just to be clear… PG-13 is for pussies. Spines bleed… a lot. Now, gore doesn’t guarantee a good movie, but Black knows and loves the franchise, promises a return to the spirit of the first movie and rumors that it will be set in an urban location with a bigger, and stronger genetically engineered predator (in case an invisible, knife wielding alien with a laser on his shoulder wasn’t good enough). The ever- growing cast includes Boyd Holbrook, Jacob Tremblay, Sterling K. Brown,

The Predator Begins Filming – A First Look At The Cast

At some point people thought it would be a good idea to start making horror films that are PG-13. What a horrible idea that is. One upcoming film that won’t be PG-13 is Shane Black’s ‘The Predator’. In fact, he recently said that “PG-13 is for pussies. Spines bleed… a lot.” ‘The Predator’ will be rater R ! And for that, we thank you Mr. Black. Let’s be honest, part of the genre’s charm is the blood, guts, and lots of other horrifying things. Parents know when their children shouldn’t watch something, it’s common sense. There’s no need to ruin a movie for the rest of us. Luckily, ‘The Predator’ will be filled with violence and gore, just the way we like it. Last we heard Thomas Jane was in final negotiations to star alongside Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes, and Boyd Holbrook. It is rumored that rapper turned actor Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson will also co-star. ‘The Predator’,

In other words, Dutch Schaefer’s patrol, which was attacked and largely slaughtered, happened 30 years ago in the context of the story. It’s referenced, it’s part of the mythology.
