Paramount Pictures and Skydance have unveiled the first teaser trailer for the sci-fi horror film Annihilation, from director Alex Garland (Ex Machina).
Based on the highly-acclaimed, award-winning, first book of Jeff VanderMeer’s trilogy, ‘Southern Reach’, the film stars in Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Lee, Gina Rodriguez, Tessa Thompson, and Tuva Novotny.
The film centers on a team of scientists who go on an expedition to explore a mysterious Eden-like place called “Area X” that has been taken over by a mysterious force. A place where the laws of nature do not apply. As the team digs deeper into the force they discover an anomaly and life forms that surpass understanding.
In the teaser, we see the team explore the new beautiful, dream-like world filled with terror. Annihilation will open in theaters on February 23, 2018.
