It has been 40 years since we first met Michael Myers in John Carpenter’s Halloween. Now, the next installment of the Halloween franchise, directed by Gordon Green, who co-wrote the film with Danny McBride, has officially begun filming. The new film is a direct sequel to the original film and will act as if the other sequels never existed.
More news has come to light involving the cast. Virginia “Ginny” Garnder (Marvel’s Runaways), Miles Robbins (My Friend Dahmer), Dylan Arnold (Mudbound), and ‘Stranger Things” Drew Scheid have now joined the cast alongside the previously announced stars Jamie Lee Curtis who is reprising her role as Laurie Strode, Judy Greer who plays Strodes’ daughter, and Andi Matichak who has been cast as the film’s young lead and Laurie Strodes granddaughter. Nick Castle, the original actor who terrified us as Michael Myers will be returning to don the mask once again. James Jude Courtney will be doing all stunt work for Myers this go-around.
Also on board is Acadamy Award-winning makeup and VFX artist Christopher Nelson who worked on films like Deadpool, Suicide Squad, and Sin City.
In the film, “Laurie Strode comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.”
The film was scored by John Carpenter who serves as executive producer along with Malek Akkad, and Jason Blum. Gordan Green and Danny McBride will executive produce under their Rough House Pictures banner.
Halloween will open in theaters nationwide on October 19, 2018.
