Millennium Films has announced three of the actors that have already signed on to star in the upcoming ‘Leatherface’ prequel to ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’.
‘EastEnders’ star Sam Strike will be playing Jackson (who grows up to become Leatherface).
‘Carrie’ actress Angela Bettis, has been cast in the role of ‘Verna’. Verna is the mother of the cannibalistic Sawyer family. Bettis currently plays the role of ‘Fay’ on the new USA series ‘Dig’. She has also been in many movies, including: ‘The Woman’, ‘May’, ‘Girl, Interrupted’ and the role of a mother of a very special girl, hunted by a cult, in the 2000 supernatural horror ‘Bless the Child’.
The prequel will focus on Leatherface’s teenage years and will lead up to the the age that we saw him at in ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’, when the movie was released in 1974 (played by Gunner Hansen) .
The latest star to be added to the cast roster is talented actor Stephen Dorff, who has stared in a wide range of films that includes ‘Blade’ (1998), ‘Immortals’ (2011) and 2003’s creepy psychological thriller ‘Cold Creek Manor’. Dorff will be playing the role of Texas Ranger, Hal Hartman.
Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, who also directed the movie ‘Livide’, will be teaming up again to direct ‘Leatherface’, which is being released by Lionsgate, some time in 2016.
